Vieux Port de Bastia - Bastia

Vieux Port de Bastia - Bastia Description :

Bastia old harbour

Bastia old harbour is the reference harbour of the Isle of Beauty, and an unavoidable Corsican call. Bastia is the administrative centre of the Haute-Corse French region, and is ideally situated, at the basis of the Corsican Cape, between the sea and the mountains. There is the Elba island in the West, and the French and Italian coasts very near. This appealing and dynamic harbour area has a very present business activity, and many bars and restaurants to entertain yourself. This is also a ferry arrival and departure area.

Bastia old harbour is a large-scale harbour of 350 berths, 40 of which are reserved to passing through amateur yachtsmen. Up to 12 metre long boats can moor at floating pontoons and a 30 metre basin is open during summer. Note to amateur yachtsmen: The harbour entrance can hardly be accessed when strong winds from the West are blowing. Amateur yachtsmen who come from the North should also be vigilant, and manoeuvre carefully due to the significant trafic from the commercial port.

There is a freshwater access at the Genovese jetty, and an other one at the Southern dock. Electricity is available at dock (220/380v – 25a) as well as on the pontoons (220v – 16a). This harbour offers practical services such as bathrooms (3 toilets and 6 showers), a launderette, a 50 metric ton slip, 2 ships (in the same places as the water accesses), and a refuelling station. Batia old harbour is the ideal starting point to call in at the many surrounding marinas, at Nice and Toulon harbours for example, but also at Genova harbour, Italy.
