Porquerolles Hyères

Porquerolles - Hyères Description :

Porquerolles harbour

The Île de Porquerolles is the biggest and the nearest of the three Îles d’Or, also called Îles d’Hyères. This island is also at a short distance from the Giens peninsula. You can go around it by foot, by bike or by boat by calling in at the lovely harbour of Porquerolles. This human-scale marina appeals to many amateur yachtsmen all year round. This place is a must, and a not-to-be-missed pearl of the Var departement.

Porquerolles harbour has a capacity of 676 berths, 313 of which are for visitors with up to 35 metre long boats. You can access it from the Northern coast, between a jetty and rocks that protect the small harbour. The outer-harbour depth is 3.2 metres, and from 0.5 to 3 metres in the basins.

Although this is a small harbour, its offers all the services needed by amateur yachtsmen, such as water, electricity, bathrooms, Wi-Fi, a launderette, a crane, and fuel. A maintenance of installations is also planned for 2014, and the dry dock will upgrade to the standards.

Porquerolles harbour has a few particularities due to its insularity: cleaning boats is forbidden on the island, fresh water is limited in summer, and the wind often is stronger than on the continent. You may also take into account the summertime crowds. Therefore, it is best to book your berth in advance. During the high season, amateur yachtsmen are welcomed by the harbour master's office zodiac to be allocated a berth.
