Cap d´Ail - Cap d'Ail Description :

Cap d´Ail

Cap-d'Ail harbor

On the Franco-Monegasque frontier, the Cap-d'Ail marina is often -and wrongly- considered as being part of Monaco. This is due to its nearness to the Principality of Monaco, as well as its similarity to the nearby Fontvieille harbor. Nevertheless, this is a French harbor, which enjoys a privileged location, from which you can reach Monaco or Nice airport -by helicopter- in less than ten minutes. This airport is only a few meters away from Cap-d'Ail.

Cap-d'Ail harbor stretches out on 47,000 m2  of water, and has a docking capacity of about 250 boats, which must not be more than eighty meters long. Some berths are still available for booking.

This harbor has initially been designed to moor six-to-twenty-meter-long boats. Over the years, the outer basin was rebuilt to meet the big yachts needs. This basin was renamed Bassin d'Honneur (Basin of Honor), and is now a prefered shelter for super yachts with dry docks of about fifty, fifty-five and sixty meters. This marks a huge difference with the other dry docks of the harbor, most of which were designed to accommodate up-to-twenty-meter-long boats.

Considering Cap-d'Ail is a Monegasque land that expanded on the sea in the 70s, the harbor is much deeper than most harbors of the French Riviera. They are only 3.5-meter-deep, against twenty meters for the Bassin d'Honneur of Cap-d'Ail harbor.

The Cap-d'Ail marina has numerous harbor facilities meant to please boat and yacht owners. Indeed, the marina has a fuel dock near the harbor master's office entrance, a shiplander, two hotels, and several restaurants. And Monaco mall is only a few minutes walk away.
